The moonset took place on June 13, 2024 and this locale-establishing shot was taken the following morning:<\/span><\/p>\n

For all you locals, the hi-rises are on Prospect Ave, just south of Passaic St.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re viewing this in a dark room, the setting moon – as shown in this photo – is over the left half of the hi-rise on the right and continues moving downward to the right:<\/span><\/p>\n

This crescent moon occurred on June 7, 2024:<\/span><\/p>\n

When I was trying to set up that shot, I saw a plane about to pass by and wanted to get a time-lapse image of the plane\u2019s straight-line light and blinking red light going by the moon, but – apparently – a minor earthquake must have shook my building at that moment and this was the result:<\/span><\/p>\n

The crescent over some clouds\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..I\u2019ve shot other crescents before, but never got what looks like a planet blocking most of the moon. I know it\u2019s not the Earth\u2019s shadow, but you\u2019ll have to look up the answer:<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s also in most of the rest of the shots.<\/span><\/p>\n

These moonshots were taken from my kitchen. Here\u2019s a wider view that shows those same clouds and some local Hackensack buildings:<\/span><\/p>\n

To give you locals some perspective, this daytime shot is essentially the same as the above nighttime one. It shows buildings on Linden St, Passaic St and everyone\u2019s favorite triple-cross atop the church at Passaic and Summit. In the background is Garret Mountain, 10 miles away in Paterson, NJ:<\/span><\/p>\n

Saw another plane in the sky and – still wanting to get that plane streak across the frame and near the moon, I tried again (and failed again………..but slightly less disastrously):<\/span><\/p>\n

FINALLY – just before the moon disappeared, I got it\u2026\u2026\u2026.but it would have been nicer when it was close to the moon (complain, complain):<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, a pretty crappy, overly-zoomed-in final shot as the moon started to vanish:<\/span><\/p>\n
