2025 – Prescription to Guitar Heaven

(ignore April 30, 2017 publish date – this was published on March 31, 2025)

AKA this place:

11½ years ago, I wandered into LSM and took two pictures:

Jump ahead to two weeks ago. I had a prescription to pick up at a pharmacy on the main drag in Teaneck (Cedar Lane).

“It’ll be ready in 15 minutes”.

“I’ll take a walk”.

I grew up a couple of blocks away and Cedar Lane was my life: I hung out with my friends there, I worked in an ice cream/soda shop AND a bowling alley (pinboy!……..ouch!) and saw 90 bazillion movies there at the Teaneck Theater.

Taking a walk there now is always an education because almost nothing is familiar. “Oh, wait…………there’s Lark Street Music! Haven’t been in there in over a decade, so let’s check it out.”

I recognized the owner, but had forgotten his name (It’s “Buzzy Levine”………….thank you, Google).

For a skinny store, there seems to be about 10 times as many guitars and other stringed instruments on the walls than I recalled.

“More guitars than you can shake a pick at” should be its motto (just came up with that one).

I told Buzzy about my previous visit and asked if I could take some pictures again.

“OK”

I whipped out my phone and went to town. I had to work fast and needed to take mostly wide, panoramic shots to save time. All but one of the following shots are PANOs, so be sure to click them once or twice to see the images fully-enlarged.

From the back room to the front door:

I don’t know if you noticed, but in the previous shot there was another “Bob” in the room:

Look up:

Back to front (Buzzy’s in there somewhere):

Three more PANOs:

Amazed photographer (the non-PANO shot):

One last shot on my way out:

(Is that a double-parked school bus outside filled with music students that are coming in to see Guitar Heaven?)

I hope so.

When I got outside and crossed Cedar Lane, I saw FIVE school buses parked from the Teaneck Theater to down past LSM!

I hope they were all there to buy from Buzzy.

And, YES – the prescription was now ready.

“Sorry for the delay………”

NOT a problem!…………..thank you!”

Those are some beautiful guitars! I never knew of this place when I was living in Lodi. I bought my guitars at Muscara Music in Bloomfield and We Buy Guitars on West 49th St in Manhattan…
