The Autism Acceptance Train

.
.
Yeah – there’s really such a thing.
.
I found that out on December 1 after I took a walk down nearby Railroad Ave and back. That ended where it started on Anderson St near the train station, where I took a break and relaxed for a minute or two.
.
.
As I got up to leave, a train pulled in. From force of habit, I started to film it as it came in. Wait………this engine’s got color and a message that I couldn’t quite read as it went past me:
.
.
.
.
On this line, northbound trains are pulled by the engine (coming back, they’re pushed by it). By the time the engine stopped, it was about a block away. I wouldn’t be able to catch up to it to take nice stills before it left, so I figured the video would suffice.
.
.
It’s good and readable, but it’s too quick. I need to make stills from that video.
.
.
Trying to pull stills from the video and put them together sounds like a good idea, but…………(click to enlarge if you really think it’s necessary)
.
.
It’s readable, but it’s not exactly what I want to show anybody, so time for Plan B.
.
This double-decker train rolls into Anderson St at around 2:20pm, so on December 5 (good timing because it’s no longer running on this line), I went to the station, walked a block north by the tracks and waited. Two minutes later, it arrived and I got to shoot these:

Every time I encounter trains with these themed engines on the Pascack Valley Line, I’m happy to discover and share something new with you all. Then I discover they’re not so new.
.
This one has been around since April………………………of 2023!
.
I guess they have to make the rounds on all of the NJ Transit lines and the Pascack Valley line is nowhere near the top of the list. Maybe it’s an alphabetical thing.
.
If that’s the case, we really need to rename the Pascack Valley line something smooth and powerful, like………….oh, I don’t know……………..how about “the Aardvark Valley Line”?
.
While you contemplate that, here’s the Autism Awareness Month video……………….from 2023:
.
.
BONUS: it shows a NJ Transit bus dolled up like the train. Maybe we’ll see one of those around here by 2030.
